History of the Airport
The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP for short) is a public airport in northwest of Panama City Beach in Bay County. When ECP was build it replaced the Panama City – Bay County International Airport. ECP is currently owned by the Panama City – Bay County Airport & Industrial District. ECP had opened for commercial flights on May 23rd, 2010. An interesting fact about ECP is that is was the first international airport that was designed and built since the September 11th attacks. Even though it is international is doesn’t schedule international flights. Most people traveling to other countries fly to Atlanta and different airports before taking off again on another plane.
